SpaceX Climbs as Institutional Buying Battles Macroeconomic Warnings

Investors are aggressively positioning for the Nasdaq-100 transition, which market estimates suggest could trigger nearly $4 billion in passive buying. This momentum is bolstered by continued institutional accumulation, notably Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, which recently added 45,728 shares valued at $7.01 million to its various ETFs. The move follows SpaceX’s successful entry into the Russell 1000 Index, cementing its status as a primary target for institutional portfolios.

However, the broader market outlook remains clouded by warnings from Citadel Securities. The firm cautioned that persistent inflation and the Federal Reserve’s commitment to high interest rates could stifle the current AI-driven rally. Beyond macro concerns, SpaceX faces scrutiny regarding its aggressive financing strategy. Allianz Chief Investment Officer Ludovic Subran recently characterized the company’s enlarged debt offering as a potential indicator of bubble-like conditions, suggesting that firms are leveraging inflated equity valuations to secure capital. As the July 7 deadline approaches, the stock remains caught between intense passive demand and growing skepticism regarding the long-term health of high-growth asset classes.
