Lombard Odier and Alpha Japan Deepen Strategic Partnership

Lombard Odier and Alpha Japan Deepen Strategic Partnership

The collaboration leverages Alpha Japan’s SFr1.17 billion portfolio in high-conviction Japanese equities, which Lombard Odier has distributed across Europe since 2007. Under the new agreement, Vincent Magnenat, a limited partner at Lombard Odier, joins the board of the Tokyo firm to oversee the integration. This move allows Alpha Japan to offer domestic investors access to Lombard Odier’s global solutions, specifically targeting sustainable investments, private assets, and systematic strategies.

For European investors, the arrangement addresses a growing appetite for Japanese exposure. As Japan’s weight in global equity markets climbs to 5–6 percent of neutral allocations, institutional demand for specialized local expertise has intensified. Jean-Pascal Porcherot, co-head of Lombard Odier Investment Managers, noted that the partnership combines deep local insight with the bank’s established European distribution reach. Michel Amsellem, founder and chairman of Alpha Japan LO am, described the deeper integration as a natural evolution of a two-decade relationship, aimed at connecting Japanese clients with global investment products while scaling their own strategies abroad.
