Michelle Bond Faces November Trial in FTX Campaign Finance Case

Prosecutors contend that Bond and her husband, former FTX executive Ryan Salame, funneled roughly $400,000 in FTX funds into her unsuccessful bid for the U.S. House of Representatives. The indictment alleges this capital was funneled through a sham payment, violating federal campaign finance laws. Bond faces four counts, including conspiracy and the acceptance of excessive and unlawful contributions, each carrying a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Bond’s defense team had argued that federal prosecutors breached a prior agreement made during Salame’s plea negotiations by pursuing charges against her. Judge Daniels dismissed this claim, effectively keeping the case on the court's calendar. Beyond the financial allegations, the indictment asserts that Bond sought to conceal the origin of the campaign funds by providing false statements to the Federal Election Commission and a congressional committee. Bond has entered a plea of not guilty as the legal process enters its final phase.
