In Minneapolis, thousands braved subzero temperatures for the second consecutive week to oppose Operation Metro Surge. The movement gained cultural momentum as Bruce Springsteen performed at a benefit for the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, two of the four victims whose deaths have become a rallying cry for the protests.
Economic disruption served as a primary tactic, with over 150 businesses in Maine closing in defiance of Operation Catch of the Day. In Chicago, local business owners joined the effort, framing the loss of daily revenue as a necessary stand against the erosion of civil liberties. Similar scenes played out in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, where participants utilized strikes and walkouts to signal their rejection of current federal policies.
Students also emerged as a key force in the demonstrations. At Brown University, Asheville High School, and the University of Florida, youth organizers staged walkouts to condemn the actions of ICE agents. Participants expressed a deepening sense of urgency, citing the fatal shooting of Good by officer Jonathan Ross as evidence of a systemic crisis that threatens the safety of communities nationwide.
