Yi He warns Binance users over suspicious USDT transfers

In a post on X, Yi He urged users not to send Binance cryptocurrency from transactions whose origins or histories raise concerns. Her examples included tokens received through relatives, business proceeds from Myanmar, payments collected in Cambodia and money moved temporarily through an account for someone else.

The warning did not label all business in Myanmar or Cambodia illegal, nor did it identify specific accounts or announce a regional deposit ban. Yi He said Binance has strict global compliance standards and that associated addresses may be flagged before funds reach the exchange.

Binance’s existing procedures can require customers to explain the source of a particular deposit, even if they have already completed identity verification. Requests for information may follow unusual account activity, links to high-risk wallet addresses or possible terms-of-use violations. Restrictions can remain in place during a review; assets subject to an official freezing order cannot be released independently by the exchange.

The locations cited have also appeared in international investigations into crypto fraud and money laundering. A September 2026 FinCEN investigation examined $12.7 billion in reported financial activity associated with Southeast Asian cryptocurrency investment scams. In April, the U.S. Justice Department announced charges involving a fraud compound in Myanmar and plans for an operation in Cambodia, as part of an effort that included about $700 million in restrained cryptocurrency. Those investigations do not establish a link between the specific transactions in Yi He’s post and any identified criminal group.

Her warning came as Binance restored withdrawals after an October 29 security breach affecting approximately $6.34 billion in digital assets. The exchange resumed selected withdrawals on November 1 and expanded access on November 3. Binance said it had replenished 98% of affected token assets by October 31 and frozen or intercepted approximately $2.85 billion linked to the attack. Yi He’s post did not connect the warning to the breach or the withdrawal restrictions.
