Anthony Lim to Succeed Peter Seah as DBS Chairman in 2027

Anthony Lim to Succeed Peter Seah as DBS Chairman in 2027

The appointment follows the March 2025 change in chief executive, when Tan Su Shan succeeded Piyush Gupta, who had led the bank since 2009. Tan previously oversaw DBS’s consumer banking and wealth management business before moving to institutional banking. The chairman transition completes what the bank describes as a generational shift at the top.

Lim has served on DBS boards since April 2021. He chaired the compensation and management development committee, which oversaw succession planning for the chief executive transition, and sits on the board executive and board risk management committees. Before retiring from executive roles in 2017, he held senior positions at GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and Bankers Trust, working in Singapore, London and New York.

Seah became chairman in 2010. DBS said its income has more than tripled and net profit has risen more than fourfold since then. In July 2026, the bank’s market capitalisation passed S$200 billion—about six times its size at the end of 2009—making it Singapore’s largest listed company. DBS reported its third-quarter figures on Thursday.

“One of the board’s most important responsibilities is ensuring continuity of leadership,” Seah said. “Having completed the CEO transition to Su Shan, the bank is now entering its next chapter from a position of strength.”
