Canton Strategic Executes First Tokenized U.S. Stock Trades

The November 4 transaction saw Five North divest its tokenized CNTN shares to DRW Cumberland, with liquidity facilitated by Flowdesk through the Tradecraft automated market maker protocol. Unlike derivative products that merely mirror price action, these shares are registered directly on the Canton Network. Fairmint, serving as the SEC-registered transfer agent, maintains the official ownership record and enforces compliance via mandatory identity verification and sanctions screening.

CEO Mark Wendland confirmed the successful execution, noting that the company achieved its goal of pioneering the SEC’s new framework for on-chain equity trading. While Canton Strategic did not disclose specific trade volumes or pricing, the company emphasized that these tokenized assets retain standard shareholder rights, including voting and distribution privileges. The arrangement operates on TSV LLC, a permissioned venue designed to settle trades atomically while adhering to regulatory requirements, such as halting activity when the underlying Nasdaq-listed stock faces suspension.
