Ethereum Economic Zone debuts cross-chain transaction breakthroughs

Developers Friederike Ernst and Eduardo Antuña Díez demonstrated how CoW Swap can execute trades using mainnet liquidity directly from a rollup, eliminating the need for separate bridge transactions or additional signatures. This capability allows users to access deeper liquidity pools without the slippage typically associated with fragmented layer-2 networks.

The team also showcased coordinated multisignature wallet management through Safe. By linking ownership changes between Ethereum mainnet and rollups, organizations can update permissions and manage treasury assets across multiple chains simultaneously, ensuring account configurations remain synchronized without redundant administrative processes.

A third demonstration highlighted the efficiency of post-quantum cryptography. By verifying a Falcon signature on a rollup—rather than the mainnet—the framework authorized a transfer while achieving a 91% reduction in gas consumption. This approach underscores the potential for offloading computationally intensive tasks to rollups while maintaining the security of the base layer.

These developments build on the framework introduced by Gnosis, Zisk, and the Ethereum Foundation to resolve liquidity fragmentation. As Gnosis Chain progresses toward its transition into an Ethereum rollup, the EEZ standard continues to gain traction, with Consensys planning to integrate the technology into its institutional interoperability platform.
