Bitget Hacker Shifts $19.5 Million in Fresh Bitcoin Outflows

Bitget Hacker Shifts $19.5 Million in Fresh Bitcoin Outflows

The latest outflows represent a fraction of the $78.01 million the attacker has shuffled into new addresses since October 15. Arkham estimates the hacker still holds approximately $242.54 million in labeled assets, a figure that accounts for roughly 62.6% of the $387.5 million total loss reported by Bitget. While the movement of these funds fuels speculation regarding potential laundering, the data provided by Arkham does not confirm whether the assets have been sold or integrated into mixing services.

Bitget previously identified the breach as a vulnerability within a third-party security product, which allowed the attacker to bypass internal risk controls. Following the containment of the incident, the exchange resumed withdrawal services in early October and confirmed that customer accounts were not impacted. To facilitate the recovery of stolen assets, the company has partnered with security firms Mandiant and SlowMist and introduced a reward program offering 5% to those who assist in freezing or returning the misappropriated funds.
