The partnership remains in an early, exploratory stage, with neither company providing a launch timeline or specific financial details. The initiative focuses on three primary objectives: streamlining international fund transfers, building digital asset infrastructure for corporate finance, and expanding the reach of services developed on the GIWA chain. Bugeon Lee, MoonPay’s head of APAC, noted that the integration is designed to move beyond simple payments, targeting the core financial operations of global enterprises.
This move aligns with MoonPay’s recent push into the South Korean market, following the establishment of its local subsidiary in September. For Dunamu, the agreement adds to a series of strategic discussions with financial giants, including recent talks with Visa regarding stablecoin remittances and a pilot project with Hana Financial Group and POSCO International. As the companies evaluate technical requirements, they will determine whether to move forward with a commercial rollout of these blockchain-based financial services.
