Scammers target QQL collectors in fake Tyler Hobbs mint scheme

Yuga Labs executive Quit warned on X that multiple accounts are posing as Hobbs, falsely claiming that the Ethereum-based generative art project has reopened for public sales. The fraudulent posts mirror the original 2022 launch parameters, citing a 900-unit supply and a 50 ETH starting price to lure unsuspecting collectors. While one user reportedly suffered a total loss of funds, others were saved by security tools like Pocket Universe, which flagged the malicious interactions before assets could be siphoned.

Despite these claims, the QQL minting process has not been relaunched. The project’s official documentation confirms that while existing Mint Pass holders retain the ability to generate new artwork, no new public sale exists. Security experts advise collectors to verify all contract addresses against official project resources before interacting with any minting links. The FBI has previously cautioned that attackers often leverage social media impersonation and high-pressure tactics to trick users into signing malicious smart contracts that grant attackers full access to their digital wallets.
