The new capability functions within the company’s existing Token Control Ledger, shifting the industry standard away from retrospective reconciliation. Instead of verifying assets after a transaction is processed, the system confirms that backing exists before a token is created and validates its status—ensuring it remains genuine and outstanding—before the bank releases cash upon redemption. This process applies regardless of how many wallets or blockchain networks a token traverses.
Managing director of APAC Daryn Griggs noted that for risk and compliance teams, the critical challenge lies in verifying a token's authenticity at the point of redemption rather than just its origin. CEO and co-founder John Mitchell likened the upgrade to the transition from magnetic-stripe cards to EMV chip-and-PIN payments, moving from static records to active transaction-time authentication. The feature is available immediately to Episode Six’s global client base, which spans financial institutions and technology firms across more than 50 countries.
