The briefing, which concluded abruptly after only three questions from right-wing outlets, has left Zacharia’s future in the role in question. Anonymous Trump administration officials told reporters that her performance was brutal, with some suggesting she is already on thin ice. Comparisons were quickly drawn to Anthony Scaramucci, who famously held the position for only 11 days, with one official noting that Zacharia needs to improve rapidly to avoid a similar fate.
Journalist Aaron Rupar characterized the event as an SNL sketch come to life, while Mother Jones writer Inae Oh noted that Zacharia appeared physically strained during the exchange. Even former press secretary Anthony Scaramucci weighed in, claiming the clock is already running on her tenure. With insiders describing the debut as a potential train wreck, the pressure on Zacharia to stabilize her position remains intense.
