Gate Expands Crypto-Linked Visa Card Access to 40-Plus Markets

The exchange announced the expansion on October 8, positioning the card as a bridge between digital holdings and everyday retail spending. When a user makes a purchase, the system triggers an automatic conversion of assets—such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or stablecoins like USDT—into local fiat currency. Merchants receive standard Visa payments, bypassing the need to handle cryptocurrency directly.

Management of the card occurs entirely within the Gate app, where users can apply for the product and monitor their balances. Gate founder and CEO Dr. Han stated that the partnership aims to align digital asset utility with daily consumer needs. While the service targets a broad international footprint, exact availability, supported currencies, and compliance requirements remain subject to local regulations and individual product pages. Applicants must generally complete Level 2 identity verification to qualify.

This initiative follows the October 7 launch of Gate Money, a unified financial gateway designed to house fiat accounts, investment portfolios, and payment tools. The integration simplifies the user experience by allowing funds to move between exchange accounts and payment channels without requiring separate applications for each service.

Gate enters a competitive landscape for crypto-linked payments. Visa recently reported that its network supports over 160 stablecoin-linked card programs, which have seen payment volumes climb nearly 200% year-over-year. As part of its broader strategy, Gate intends to extend its banking services into regions including Europe, Australia, and Dubai, with plans to support payment receipts in more than 60 local currencies.
