US Government Moves $103 Million in Bitcoin and BNB to Exchanges

On-chain analyst EmberCN reported that the Bitcoin portion of the transfer, valued at roughly $71.56 million, landed in Coinbase Prime. Meanwhile, the $31.63 million in BNB followed a more complex path, shuffling through multiple addresses before settling at a specific destination. These transactions arrive as the government continues to manage a digital asset stockpile estimated at $28 billion, with Bitcoin holdings accounting for the vast majority of that total.

Market sensitivity to these transfers remains high. Historically, government-linked wallet activity has triggered short-term price volatility, with traders often interpreting any movement toward an exchange as a precursor to a sell-off. However, federal policy has evolved significantly since the U.S. Marshals Service first tapped Coinbase Prime for asset management in 2024. Under an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in March 2025, Bitcoin formally deposited into the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve is protected from sale, creating a legal firewall that did not exist during previous high-profile seizures.

While the current transfer destination is Coinbase, the lack of a public announcement leaves the intent behind the move ambiguous. Past instances, such as the July 2024 transfer involving funds linked to Ryan Farace, showed that assets can sit in custody without ever entering the open market. Without explicit confirmation from government agencies or further on-chain evidence of liquidation, the status of the latest 833.6 BTC remains in a state of institutional limbo.
