Bitcoin Eyes $82,000 Support as October Volatility Looms

Jeff Ko of ViaBTC and Lacie Zhang of Bitget Wallet point to $82,000 as the primary line of defense. Below this price, liquidation clusters thin out, creating a vulnerability that could accelerate a decline toward $80,000. Zhang projects an October trading range between $78,000 and $95,000, noting that any sustained move below the floor would invalidate the month’s bullish outlook. To reach the $95,000 target, the asset must first reclaim the $87,500 breakout level to trigger a potential short squeeze.

Institutional flows remain a central variable. While U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $2.4 billion in inflows last week, daily net additions slowed significantly by late September. The market now hinges on whether this institutional capital can absorb selling pressure from long-term holders and miners. Meanwhile, macroeconomic pressure persists; despite cooler-than-expected PCE readings, both analysts emphasize that interest rate risks and energy costs remain primary obstacles. Market focus has shifted to the upcoming October employment report and CPI data, which will serve as the next major stress tests for current rate-hike expectations.
