Eugene Investment Pilots Stablecoin Settlement for Tokenized Assets

Eugene Investment Pilots Stablecoin Settlement for Tokenized Assets

The collaboration, formalized on September 21, focuses on unifying subscription, payment, and settlement into a cohesive on-chain system. While current tokenized securities platforms record ownership digitally, investors typically complete payments through conventional banking channels. By leveraging BEATOZ’s hybrid blockchain technology alongside Eugene’s existing issuance infrastructure, the firms intend to bridge this gap, ensuring that payment data moves in lockstep with securities records.

This trial arrives as South Korea accelerates preparations for a regulated tokenized securities framework, set to take effect on February 4, 2027. Eugene is already well-positioned for this shift, having developed its internal platform in 2024 and participated in pilot projects with the Korea Securities Depository. Furthermore, the brokerage is currently contributing to Hana Financial Group’s consortium for a won-denominated stablecoin.

Eun Seok-hoon, head of Eugene’s AX innovation division, characterized the initiative as a foundational step toward building the necessary infrastructure for a digitized capital market. The findings from this proof of concept will dictate how the firm approaches future integration and cooperation. As the 2027 deadline approaches, the broader South Korean financial sector is intensifying efforts to modernize, with major players like Samsung SDS, Hanwha Investment & Securities, and Shinhan Asset Management concurrently developing their own distributed ledger solutions to meet the upcoming regulatory standards.
