Polymarket shifts to in-house indexing for near-instant trade data

Josh Stevens, vice president of engineering at Polymarket, confirmed that the new infrastructure now handles the bulk of the platform's data, effectively bypassing the previous reliance on third-party providers for real-time updates. While the company is moving to its own stack, it will retain Goldsky as a secondary data backup to ensure system stability.

Rindexer, the technology powering this shift, is an open-source EVM indexing tool that simplifies blockchain data organization through YAML configurations. For a high-frequency environment like Polymarket, the internal control over indexing pipelines is critical for maintaining the speed of its expanding product suite, which recently grew to include perpetual futures and leveraged trading. This technical upgrade follows a broader push by the company to bring its core infrastructure in-house, a trend that includes recent acquisitions of DeFi startups like Brahma and the integration of advanced onchain surveillance tools.
