Sullivan & Cromwell Expands Middle East Footprint in Abu Dhabi

Ahmed T el-Gaili is returning to the firm as a partner to spearhead the Middle East practice. Having previously spent six years at the London office, el-Gaili brings nearly two decades of regional expertise, with a career history advising sovereign wealth funds, state-owned enterprises, and private equity firms. He will collaborate with partners Garth Bray and Umberto Hassan, who offer specialized experience in technology regulation, cross-border mergers, and corporate restructuring.

Robert Giuffra and Scott Miller, co-chairs of the firm, described the expansion as a move to deepen ties with one of the world’s most dynamic financial centers. The new location serves as a critical junction for the firm’s broader strategy as it navigates the evolving economic landscape of the Gulf region.
