Israeli Strikes Shatter Ceasefire in Southern Lebanon

The Monday morning attack in Kfar Rumman destroyed a residential building, killing three generations of a single family, including a two-month-old infant. According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, the victims were among dozens wounded as Israeli forces intensified operations. The military action followed Defense Minister Israel Katz’s declaration that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would maintain control over a security zone until Hezbollah is disarmed.

While the IDF stated the strikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and weapons transport in response to drone activity, no evacuation warnings were issued for the residential area. The destruction follows Sunday’s leveling of the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the hospital strike as a severe violation of international law, accusing Israel of intentionally targeting civilian institutions. Amid rising civilian casualties, U.S. Congressman Mark Pocan has joined growing calls within Congress to restrict military aid to Israel, citing the regularity of child fatalities in ongoing strikes.
