Strategy’s STRC buybacks cross $635 million as stock lingers below par

Strategy disclosed that it repurchased 1.56 million STRC shares during the week ending Aug. 30, paying an average of $97.48 per share. This effort is part of a $1 billion authorization launched in June to bolster the preferred stock. The company funded these moves by selling 4.53 million MSTR common shares, which generated $602.8 million in net proceeds. These funds were split between the STRC buybacks, $50.7 million in preferred dividends, and a $369.7 million purchase of 4,603 Bitcoin, bringing Strategy's total holdings to 845,050 BTC.

While CEO Phong Le has previously signaled that the company intends to resume issuing STRC once the security returns to par, the stock continues to trade slightly below that benchmark. The firm faces stiff competition from Strive’s SATA, which offers a 13% annualized dividend paid daily and has maintained a price closer to its $100 par value. Market data shows that while institutional interest in STRC remains robust—with major ETFs holding $756 million of the security—Strategy’s common stock, MSTR, has struggled, declining roughly 15% this year. In contrast, Strive’s ASST has seen a 60% gain, highlighting a widening performance gap between the two Bitcoin treasury-linked entities.
