Alongside the transaction update, Solana is initiating a five-stage rent reduction plan designed to eventually lower costs by 90%. By reducing the amount of SOL required for account creation, the network aims to lower entry barriers for dApps. These changes, alongside further reductions in slot times and the anticipated October launch of the Alpenglow consensus redesign, are governed by independent feature gates. This modular approach allows validators to monitor network performance and stability before committing to each successive improvement.
