Dunamu and Visa Launch Exploratory Stablecoin and AI Partnership

Dunamu and Visa Launch Exploratory Stablecoin and AI Partnership

Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok and Visa Global President Oliver Jenkyn unveiled the collaboration during a presentation at Visa’s Global Market Support Center in San Francisco. Despite the high-level roadmap, the companies have yet to disclose fundamental operational details, including supported blockchains, custody models, settlement processes, or specific launch jurisdictions. The partners stated that development will proceed in stages, contingent upon evolving regulatory requirements in South Korea and abroad.

A central focus of the research involves the Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin, an initiative supported by major financial entities including BlackRock and Coinbase. While Dunamu previously characterized its involvement with OUSD as a preliminary review, this partnership confirms that both firms are actively evaluating business models built around the token. However, Dunamu has not committed to issuing or operating OUSD, leaving its specific role in the ecosystem undefined.

The companies also plan to explore agentic commerce, a system where AI software independently searches for products and executes payments on behalf of users. Visa has been developing infrastructure to verify AI agents and manage automated transaction security, which the two firms intend to integrate with digital-asset settlement. Because stablecoin transactions are often irreversible, this work faces significant hurdles regarding user consent, fraud prevention, and liability. With South Korean regulators still debating the legal framework for stablecoins, the collaboration remains a business-development exercise rather than a functional payment product.
