Bitcoin Bull Score Hits 80, But $83K Weekly Close Remains the Hurdle

The rapid ascent of the Bull Score reflects a rare convergence of strengthening spot and futures demand, a trend not seen since October 2025. According to CryptoQuant, this suggests broad market participation rather than isolated price action. Despite hitting a three-month high above $80,000, Bitcoin has yet to secure the technical breakout necessary to validate a sustained recovery. The firm emphasizes that the 365-day moving average—currently hovering near $83,000—serves as the primary dividing line between improving conditions and a potential trap.

LMAX Group strategist Joel Kruger aligns with this outlook, pointing to the May 2026 high of $82,820 as a critical resistance zone. A definitive move above this threshold would reinforce the thesis that a cycle low is established, shifting the focus toward the $100,000 mark. However, immediate risks persist. Short-term whale activity has intensified, with large holders realizing $1.2 billion in profits between August 20 and August 22. Furthermore, 53,000 BTC has flowed into exchanges, marking the highest deposit volume since June. While exchange inflows do not guarantee an immediate sell-off, they increase the available supply for potential profit-taking as traders weigh the sustainability of the current breakout.
