The Washington-Baltimore News Guild successfully argued that the firing was a response to widespread demands for retaliation from political figures, including Vice President JD Vance. The arbitrator found no evidence that Attiah disparaged specific groups or threatened her colleagues, characterizing the Post's justification for the termination as an attempt to mask retaliatory discipline.
