India’s $763 Billion Wealth Transfer Looms Over Female Heirs

India’s $763 Billion Wealth Transfer Looms Over Female Heirs

The report, titled The Ownership Shift and developed alongside Encubay, draws on insights from 22 prominent women leaders, including entrepreneurs and fund managers. While the data shows high levels of financial engagement—with 72 per cent of women reviewing portfolios at least quarterly—a notable disconnect remains between intention and execution. For instance, 40 per cent of respondents aim to prioritize private equity and venture capital in the coming years, yet only 13 per cent currently hold such assets.

Succession planning also reveals a complex picture. About 77 per cent of women expecting to inherit have initiated planning, but only 23 per cent of those who have already received their inheritance maintain fully structured arrangements. Adrish Ghosh, head of Barclays Private Bank in India, noted that these gaps in succession planning and investment knowledge underscore a rising demand for trusted professional guidance. With 85 per cent of women prioritizing transparency and trust, the role of wealth advisors remains critical in navigating the increasing complexity of these family transitions.
