Ben-Gvir’s Calls for Mass Killings Spark Outcry Among Israel Allies

Ben-Gvir, who oversees Israel’s prison and police systems, argued that aggressive operations should extend beyond immediate threats to force a civilian exodus. "I see all of Gaza as ours," he stated, urging a rapid takeover of the remaining 30% of the strip currently outside direct Israeli occupation. These remarks drew sharp rebukes from traditionally staunch supporters of Israel, including Senator Jacky Rosen, who labeled the comments "horrific and completely indefensible" and called for his resignation.

While organizations like Democratic Majority for Israel denounced the rhetoric as heinous, they maintained that Ben-Gvir’s stance does not represent official state policy. Critics argue this distinction is largely semantic; data from the Gaza Health Ministry indicates that the actual death toll since October 2023 has averaged roughly 92 people per day, suggesting that the government’s broader military actions have already exceeded the minister's proposed "quota."

Analysts suggest the backlash focuses more on the optics of the minister's transparency than the underlying state objectives. Political commentator Omar Baddar noted that the alarm surrounding Ben-Gvir stems from his tendency to articulate the goals of the mainstream political establishment, which prefers to execute displacement and violence under the guise of counter-terrorism. Despite the calls for his removal from the coalition, there remains little indication that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to discipline his minister or shift his current governing strategy.
