HTX and UK Regulator Pause Lawsuit for Settlement Talks

The FCA accused the Panama-incorporated exchange of ignoring repeated requests for communication and maintaining an opaque operational structure. While the exchange, formerly known as Huobi, maintains that its services are not intended for the British market, the regulator’s lawsuit marks the first time the agency has taken a crypto firm to court over marketing violations. The two parties began exchanging emails in March, leading to a three-month negotiation window that the High Court extended on June 25.

Beyond marketing disputes, the exchange faces significant regulatory headwinds, including sanctions from both the UK and the European Union linked to alleged financial ties to Russia. Despite these pressures, an HTX spokesperson emphasized the company's commitment to compliance and transparency. The ongoing discussions remain private, with both sides declining to disclose the terms of a potential resolution as the August deadline approaches.
