Trapped Under Fire: 400,000 Civilians Stranded in Northern Gaza

The military offensive, which targets the Jabalia refugee camp and surrounding areas, has completely severed humanitarian supply lines. No aid has reached the northern sector in over a week, and health services are buckling under direct orders to evacuate. Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, has publicly defied these orders, stating he will remain with his patients despite the relentless bombing campaign.

International aid organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières and a coalition of 18 groups like Oxfam, describe the situation as a forced displacement that is rendering the north unlivable. Reports indicate that civilians attempting to flee toward southern zones—which are already severely overcrowded and frequently targeted—have come under fire. The assault has also halted the second phase of a vital polio vaccination campaign for children, further deepening the humanitarian crisis.
