The scale of the crisis has left local infrastructure overwhelmed. Rula Amin of the UN Refugee Agency reported that the country’s 900 designated shelters are essentially full, forcing displaced civilians to seek refuge in hotels, nightclubs, and open public spaces. The situation is particularly dire for migrant domestic workers who, lacking legal documentation, fear deportation and avoid seeking aid, leaving them stranded in increasingly dangerous conditions.
According to the Lebanese health ministry, the death toll has surged past 2,000 in the last two weeks alone. Medical facilities are struggling to function, with the World Health Organization confirming that at least 28 medics were killed within a single 24-hour period.
