Trump Media Posts $238M Q2 Loss as Bitcoin Holdings Surge

The quarterly deficit reflects a broader volatility in the firm’s balance sheet, with $190.4 million attributed to unrealized losses across digital assets and equity securities. Revenue climbed to $1.67 million, an 89% increase from the previous year, though this growth was overshadowed by $25.6 million in legal expenses and $13.7 million in operating cash burn. Management noted that legacy legal costs are expected to decline, even as general administrative expenses rose to $35.9 million.

Following the quarter’s close, the company shifted its treasury strategy, liquidating $159.6 million in Bitcoin-related equity securities to purchase Bitcoin directly. This move brought its total holdings to 14,139 BTC, valued at approximately $890.5 million. The company is now signaling a move toward a more disciplined treasury framework to mitigate risks associated with its complex use of digital assets, which includes pledging 4,260.73 BTC against convertible notes and 2,077.34 BTC for options strategies.

Beyond treasury management, the company is recalibrating its business footprint. It recently terminated a planned venture involving the Cronos (CRO) token and is preparing to divest its remaining CRO holdings starting August 26. Simultaneously, leadership is focused on a fourth-quarter merger with TAE Technologies and the expansion of its Truth API, which began generating revenue after the close of the second quarter.
