Local officers patrolling the area noticed a woman sitting in a Ford Explorer outside the venue. Upon running the vehicle’s plates, police found they did not match the car. When questioned by local authorities, the woman identified herself as an agent with Homeland Security Investigations, an arm of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

While the agent vacated the premises without further incident, the congresswoman argued that the deployment diverted local police resources away from security duties and created unnecessary alarm. Omar formally requested information regarding the agent's specific objectives at the event, the nature of her training, and the protocols for coordination between federal immigration agencies and local law enforcement. She further suggested the incident reflects broader concerns regarding the potential use of federal resources to monitor political figures, though she provided no direct evidence that the agent was assigned to the event as part of a coordinated intimidation campaign.
