Blockchain.com Secures Full VASP Custody Licence in Cayman Islands

The authorization, finalized on July 22, 2026, replaces the conditional approval granted by the regulator in December 2025. By satisfying all outstanding conditions, the company is now permitted to facilitate exchanges between virtual assets and fiat currencies, as well as crypto-to-crypto transactions. This development follows a period of rigorous regulatory alignment, moving the firm from its previous registration status into a fully supervised operating framework.

To solidify this expansion, the firm has entered a partnership with TechCayman, an organization focused on assisting international technology companies with local operations. This collaboration will facilitate the company’s first direct hire in the territory, marking a shift from remote registration to a permanent physical presence. Co-CEO Lane Kasselman noted that this achievement complements the company’s recent MiCA approval in Europe and its registration with the UK Financial Conduct Authority, reinforcing a broader strategy to anchor operations in highly regulated markets as the firm prepares for potential future public listing.
