UOB Offloads Asset Management Unit to Allianz for S$555 Million

UOB Offloads Asset Management Unit to Allianz for S$555 Million

The transaction, expected to conclude in 2027 pending regulatory approval, will see AGI acquire the UOBAM franchise across Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Taiwan region. As of late 2025, the business managed approximately S$42 billion in assets. UOB anticipates a pre-tax gain of S$330 million from the sale, which will boost its Common Equity Tier 1 ratio by 14 basis points.

Beyond the capital injection, the deal marks a transition for UOB’s internal structure. The bank will move away from proprietary fund management to an open-architecture approach, allowing it to offer a wider array of investment solutions to clients. A long-term strategic distribution partnership between the two firms will ensure continuity, with all 500 UOBAM employees transitioning to AGI’s global platform. This sale ends a 40-year tenure for the asset management division under the UOB umbrella.
