Ripple bets on UK startups to build out XRPL tokenization

Ripple bets on UK startups to build out XRPL tokenization

The investments, announced August 3, provide Ripple with essential tools for the lifecycle of tokenized funds. ZILO contributes a digital transfer agency platform capable of managing both conventional fund units and on-chain share classes within a single system. Licuido focuses on the secondary market, providing infrastructure for token issuance, distribution, and the use of fund units as collateral. Both companies operate under specific regulatory frameworks in the United Kingdom, with Licuido functioning as an appointed representative of an FCA-authorized firm.

Ripple intends to utilize its forthcoming RLUSD stablecoin as the primary cash leg for delivery-versus-payment settlements on the XRP Ledger. This configuration allows for the simultaneous exchange of tokenized assets and cash, effectively reducing settlement times compared to traditional systems. While Ripple has not disclosed the financial terms of these deals, the partnership arrives shortly after Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its U.S. Dollar Liquidity Fund on the ledger. Despite the technical potential of this expanded stack, the actual adoption metrics, transaction volumes, and specific client deployment schedules remain unverified as the company moves to prove the system's viability in institutional settings.
