Murray noted the legislation rejects what she termed President Trump’s "frivolous war spending wish list" and prevents the redirection of funds toward Border Patrol operations. While the bill earns support from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and aligns with procedural goals shared by leadership, it faces a critical hurdle in the GOP-controlled House. House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) signaled approval of the Senate’s inclusion of safeguards against political discrimination in grant awards, though she emphasized that long-term fiscal stability requires moving beyond temporary extensions to comprehensive annual funding.
