Bloomberg Acquires Canoe Intelligence to Automate Private Markets Data

The acquisition arrives as the financial industry grapples with the shift toward private markets, a sector that has historically relied on slow, paper-based reporting. Canoe Intelligence bridges this gap by streamlining post-investment workflows, currently processing over 1.5 million documents monthly for more than 500 institutional clients overseeing a combined $11 trillion in assets.

Bloomberg plans to integrate Canoe’s automation capabilities with its existing infrastructure, which already tracks data on three million private companies and 50,000 private funds. For Canoe CEO Jason Eiswerth, the merger represents a path to providing private investors with the same level of transparency and analytical visibility typically reserved for public market participants. The move follows a period of rapid expansion for Canoe, which recently launched an AI incubator and strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of former SEI Archway executive Dennis Mangalindan.
