OKX Returns to South Korea’s Google Play Store After Four-Day Block

OKX Returns to South Korea’s Google Play Store After Four-Day Block

The restoration of the OKX app, confirmed at 8:00 a.m. local time, marks the first instance of an overseas exchange successfully navigating the recent wave of Google Play restrictions. These measures, which have affected at least 29 foreign cryptocurrency platforms, stem from Google’s internal policy regarding unregistered virtual asset service providers.

While Google’s enforcement has hit both exchanges and platforms flagged by South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit, the company maintains that these blocks are driven by its own policies rather than direct mandates from local regulators. Despite the temporary disappearance of these apps from the Android marketplace, users have maintained access to the affected exchanges through web browsers and Apple’s App Store. Meanwhile, South Korean authorities continue to intensify their oversight of the broader digital asset sector, recently investigating over 40 cases of alleged unfair trading under the Virtual Asset User Protection Act.
