Bitget Gains New Zealand Registration to Boost Tokenized Stock Offerings

Bitget Gains New Zealand Registration to Boost Tokenized Stock Offerings

The registration, announced July 23, permits Bitget to conduct cross-border money transfers, manage portfolios, and execute financial transactions. To bolster its compliance profile, the exchange also joined the Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman Dispute Resolution Scheme, providing a formal channel for user complaints. Despite these steps, New Zealand’s Companies Office notes that FSPR inclusion does not guarantee active regulatory oversight, and the firm lacks a specific license from the Financial Markets Authority.

This development strengthens the infrastructure for Bitget’s rToken and Stock+ services, which offer users exposure to over 10,000 U.S. equities and ETFs. CEO Gracy Chen noted that tokenized traditional assets represented up to 30% of the platform's spot trading volume last quarter, with over $100 million currently held in these products. As the company pushes into new jurisdictions, it maintains strict access policies elsewhere; for instance, it remains restricted in Singapore, where it holds no authorization from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
