The service allows users to manage digital and traditional assets within a single interface, utilizing Sygnum’s B2B digital asset infrastructure for execution and institutional-grade custody. By connecting via an API to the Avaloq core banking environment, the bank avoids the need to build a separate order management system. This technical setup simplifies the bank's internal operations while keeping the customer experience consistent with traditional financial services.
Curzio De Gottardi, head of the bank’s Products and Services Division, described the move as a strategic initiative to broaden the institution's investment offerings. BancaStato now joins a network of over 25 financial institutions, including PostFinance and Zuger Kantonalbank, that rely on Sygnum’s platform. This expansion reflects a broader trend in Swiss retail banking, where institutions are increasingly leveraging third-party infrastructure to provide compliant access to crypto markets without developing proprietary systems from the ground up.
