Global South Coalition Unveils Joint Strategy to Challenge Israel

The coalition’s strategy focuses on severing the logistical and financial lifelines supporting the conflict. Participating states, including Indonesia, Cuba, and Namibia, have committed to blocking the transfer of arms and military fuel to Israel, while pledging to monitor ports to prevent vessels from transporting war-related materials. Furthermore, the group intends to review public contracts to ensure no state funds support the occupation, while promoting universal jurisdiction to hold individuals accountable for alleged war crimes.

The Path to Accountability

South African Minister of International Relations Ronald Lamola described the move as a necessary affirmation that no state remains above international law. The summit comes as the Trump administration intensifies its opposition to international oversight, recently sanctioning UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese and ICC officials following the issuance of arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. Despite the Gaza Health Ministry reporting over 58,000 Palestinian deaths, Israel and the United States continue to reject the authority of the International Court of Justice and the ICC, denying allegations of genocide as the coalition moves to translate legal rulings into direct economic pressure.
