Assurances du Crédit Mutuel will see its interest climb to 23 per cent, while Wafra adds to its existing minority position. Despite the departure of AXA as a shareholder, the insurer plans to maintain its long-standing relationship as a principal investor in Ardian’s various funds. The transaction, pending regulatory approval, is slated for completion between late 2026 and early 2027.
Dominique Senequier, who founded the firm in 1996 under the name AXA Private Equity before leading a 2013 buyout, noted the deep historical ties between the two entities. Following this realignment, Ardian’s employees remain the largest shareholder group, controlling approximately 40 per cent of the company. Beyond this internal restructuring, the firm continues to prune its portfolio, recently agreeing to sell its majority stake in the Hamburg-based laboratory analytics provider GBA Group to Bridgepoint.
