Anthropic Seeks $10B Meta Deal to Fuel IPO Ambitions

The proposal, presented in June, outlines a two-year arrangement requiring Anthropic to make recurring monthly payments for use of Meta’s processing capacity. While both parties retain the right to terminate the contract early, the partnership would provide Anthropic with the specialized hardware necessary to train its latest systems. For Meta, the agreement signals an expansion into the competitive infrastructure market, allowing the social media giant to monetize its heavy investments in data centers beyond its core advertising business.

Should the deal proceed, Meta would join providers like CoreWeave and Nebius in the race to supply external AI developers with computing power. This move mirrors Anthropic’s broader infrastructure strategy, which includes a separate 20-year lease with Bitcoin miner TeraWulf. These aggressive acquisitions of processing capacity come as banks begin facilitating meetings between Anthropic executives and prospective investors. A successful public debut this autumn would position Anthropic ahead of rivals like OpenAI, potentially making it one of the first major companies of the current AI generation to hit the public markets.
