Niina Äikäs, who has overseen the Baltic division and served on the group executive committee since 2021, moves to lead the Finnish branch. Having joined the firm in 2008, her tenure includes managing large corporate coverage in Finland and directing operations in Shanghai. SEB president and CEO Johan Torgeby credited her success in steering the ongoing merger of the bank’s three Baltic entities as a key factor in her appointment to the Finnish leadership post.
Succeeding Äikäs is Sonata Gutauskait-Bubnelien, a veteran who joined the bank in 1999. Currently the country manager and CEO of SEB Lithuania, she will retain those responsibilities while assuming her new regional duties. Torgeby highlighted her two-plus decades of service and her track record in driving transformation initiatives as essential assets for the bank's future development in the Baltic market. Both appointments reflect the firm's focus on continuity as it integrates its regional financial services.
