Legal & General and Vanguard Expand ETF Lineups for European Investors

Legal & General (L&G) has introduced the L&G WTW Global Equity Diversified UCITS ETF (GEDI), a move following a year in which the firm saw its total ETF assets under management grow by approximately 50 percent. The new fund tracks the WTW Global Equity Diversified Index, utilizing a multi-factor strategy that weighs value, quality, and momentum signals. According to David Barron, global head of Index & ETFs at L&G Asset Management, the fund aims to democratize access to sophisticated investment strategies by leveraging the transparency and liquidity of the ETF wrapper. The strategy includes quarterly rebalancing and incorporates climate transition objectives alongside standard portfolio constraints.

Simultaneously, Vanguard has launched four new UCITS ETFs focusing on the US market: the Russell 1000 US Growth, Russell 1000 US Value, Russell US Mid-Cap, and Russell 2000 US Small-Cap. Listed across major European exchanges including the London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse, these funds are managed by Vanguard’s global equity group, which oversees more than $8.39 trillion in assets. Claire Aley, head of product and PRD Europe at Vanguard, noted that the expansion is intended to help investors tailor their US equity exposure more precisely, particularly for those seeking to balance technology-heavy growth holdings with value, mid-cap, or small-cap diversification.
