Gaza Reconstruction Costs Estimated at $71.4 Billion After 30 Months of War

The Gaza Strip Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment highlights that $26.3 billion is immediately necessary within the next 18 months to stabilize essential services and begin critical reconstruction. Physical infrastructure damages account for $35.2 billion of the total, while social and economic losses are valued at $22.7 billion. The scale of destruction is profound, with more than 371,888 housing units damaged or destroyed and over half of all hospitals rendered nonfunctional.

Beyond the physical ruins, the human toll remains staggering. More than 250,000 Palestinians have been killed, maimed, or are missing, with 1.9 million people facing repeated displacement. Independent UN analyses suggest that rebuilding the strip could span 80 years. While $17 billion in funding was pledged through the "Board of Peace" initiative launched by U.S. President Donald Trump, reports indicate that only a fraction of those funds have materialized, leaving the region in a state of acute crisis as the economy continues to contract by 84%.
