Bodycam Footage Contradicts ICE Account of Fatal Chicago Shooting

The Department of Homeland Security initially justified the lethal force by stating that Villegas-Gonzalez drove at officers and dragged one of them, forcing a desperate response. However, the footage obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times shows the agent in question with a torn pant leg and a scraped knee, while his partner is heard over the radio describing the situation as "nothing major."

This evidence deepens the controversy, as the ICE agents involved were not wearing their own body cameras due to a policy reversal under the Trump administration. The discrepancy has prompted Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Representative Delia Ramirez to demand a federal investigation, with Ramirez accusing the agency of outright lying about the circumstances of the shooting.
