Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Over Following Fresh Airstrikes

Speaking in Ankara alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the president dismissed further diplomacy as a waste of time, labeling Iranian leadership as "sick people." This rejection follows the administration’s decision to revoke a critical waiver on Iranian oil exports, a move Tehran condemned as a blatant breach of the memorandum of understanding signed only weeks ago. The U.S. Central Command justified the renewed military action as a necessary response to threats against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

In retaliation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have struck more than 80 U.S. military sites across the Middle East. Jamal Abdi, president of the National Iranian American Council, warned that the breakdown of the agreement threatens to drag the U.S. into an unwinnable generational quagmire. According to Abdi, the administration’s aggressive maneuvers, including the establishment of an alternative corridor in the Strait, have left Iran convinced that Washington is actively seeking to dismantle their authority rather than pursue a lasting peace.
