Royal Bank of Canada Names Co-CEOs for European Operations

Hurrell and Beer will retain their current responsibilities while assuming oversight of regional governance and strategic direction. Hurrell continues as head of capital markets for Europe, while Beer maintains his dual role as head of global sales and relationship management and CEO of RBC Wealth Management Europe. This integrated approach aims to leverage the bank's expanded footprint after its 2022 purchase of the UK-based firm Brewin Dolphin.

Derek Neldner, group head of RBC Capital Markets, noted that the bank is shifting from years of investment to a phase of accelerated growth. By forcing closer coordination between its European business units, the group expects to deploy its combined financial scale more effectively. Neil McLaughlin, group head of RBC Wealth Management, emphasized that the UK and broader European markets remain central to the bank's global expansion strategy.
