UN Report Links US-Supplied Bombs to Potential War Crimes in Gaza

The report focuses on six specific incidents between October 9 and December 2, where the use of 2,000-pound, 1,000-pound, and 250-pound bombs struck residential buildings, schools, and refugee camps. These attacks resulted in at least 218 confirmed deaths, though the UN suggests the actual toll is significantly higher. In one instance on December 2, Israeli forces reportedly dropped nine 2,000-pound bombs on a single Gaza City neighborhood, causing destruction spanning 130 meters.

Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that the military campaign consistently fails to minimize civilian harm, violating fundamental principles of distinction and proportionality. This analysis adds to a growing body of UN documentation alleging grave violations, including the use of starvation as a weapon of war. Meanwhile, ground operations continue to escalate, with Israeli tanks advancing into western Rafah, forcing thousands more to flee as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
